Braves win first two
Atlanta has taken the first two games of this series thanks to good pitching. The Braves won the opener 7-1 and then picked up a 1-0 win on Saturday. The Braves are 35-29 on the season, 19-14 on the road and 33-28 with the over. Max Fried gets the start for the Braves today. He is 7-3 on the season with a 3.68 ERA.
The Braves had to rely on their arms in Saturday’s win, as the team had just three hits. Julio Teheran got the win to move to 4-4 on the year as he pitched six scoreless innings, allowing only two hits. The bullpen then backed him up with three scoreless innings. Luke Jackson got his ninth save of the season. Tyler Flowers drove in the lone run of the game on a sacrifice fly, scoring Austin Riley.
Marlins unable to score
Miami has lost three straight games following Saturday’s defeat, scoring a combined two runs over the three games. The Marlins are 23-39 on the season, 11-20 at home and 32-27 with the under. Pablo Lopez gets the start for the Marlins this afternoon. He is 4-5 on the season with a 4.52 ERA.
The Marlins got a great outing from Trevor Richards on Saturday. He pitched seven innings and allowed just the one run on two hits to move to 3-6 on the season. Miami put up just four hits in the loss. Jorge Alfaro and Harold Ramirez were the only hitters with a multiple-base hit, as both doubled.
MLB Betting Trends
Atlanta
The Braves are just 5-1 in Fried’s last six road starts and they have won his last four Sunday starts.
Miami
The Marlins are 2-6 in their last eight Sunday games and 0-5 in their last five home games against a team with a winning road record.
Prediction:
The Braves have had Miami’s number. Atlanta has won six straight meetings with Miami, holding the Marlins to just nine runs over those six games. Fried has had some shaky outings as of late, but the Braves have still been able to win those games due to solid hitting. I don’t think Fried will have a lot of trouble with the Miami hitters, who are in a major funk. Lopez has allowed just one run over his last 12 innings, but allowing one run may be enough to lose with this lineup behind him.
MLB Prediction: Atlanta Braves -145
