Boston opened the second half of the season with seven straight home games, going 4-3 against the Dodgers and Blue Jays over the last week. Boston is 53-44 on the year, 29-19 on the road and 55-39 with the over. The Sox have David Price getting the start today. He is 7-2 on the season with a 3.16 ERA.
The Red Sox have the league’s top offense, averaging 5.64 runs per game while hitting .273 as a squad, both of which lead MLB. On the mound, Boston has a 4.59 team ERA with a 1.34 team WHIP. MLB Betting Trends
Boston
The Red Sox have won five straight against a left-handed starter and four straight series openers.
Baltimore
The Orioles are just 28-70 in their last 98 AL East games and 9-24 in their last 33 games against a left-handed starter.
Prediction:
Price has been pretty solid this season, but he has struggled to get deep into games. He has allowed two earned runs or less in nine of his last 10 starts and I could see more of the same today against a poor Baltimore lineup. Means just gave up six runs to the Rays in his last home start and Boston’s hitting is far superior to that of Tampa’s. I expect the Sox to cruise to a big win tonight.
MLB Prediction: Boston Red Sox -1.5 (-145)
