KANSAS CITY NOTES: The Royals were forced to place Jorge Soler on the 10-day disabled list with a strained left oblique. He suffered the injury a week ago and shouldn’t be on the shelf too long. Paulo Orlando will see the most of the playing time in right field with Soler out.
MINNESOTA NOTES: Ervin Santana will start the home opener today for the Twins and will be follwed in the rotation by Hector Santiago and Kyle Gibson. Santana was a bright spot for Minnesota last year, posting a 3.38 ERA over 30 starts.
