From Rotoworld: Turner will fill Joe Ross’s spot in the Nationals’ rotation. This comes after Ross was surprisingly optioned to Triple-A Syracuse. Turner already made one spot start for the Nationals last week against the Rockies, allowing three runs over six innings.
Cole allowed two runs on seven hits over seven innings in Thursday’s loss to the Diamondbacks. Cole’s performance was somewhat overshadowed by that of opposing starter Zack Greinke, who carried a no-hitter into the eighth inning, but his was a fine outing in its own right. Brandon Drury burned him for an RBI single in the second inning and Jake Lamb an RBI double in the third, but otherwise Cole kept the Pirates within striking distance during his seven innings of work. He finished the evening with five strikeouts against just one walk. He carries a 3.06 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 47/10 K/BB ratio (50 innings) into play tonight.
