Cubs drop another

Chicago has now lost of its last six games after losing the first two games in this weekend series, including a 5-3 loss in 10 innings last night. Chicago is 55-49 on the season, 19-31 on the road and 53-48 with the under. The Cubs have Jose Quintana taking the mound today. He is 8-7 on the year with a 4.42 ERA.

A 2-2 game in regulation saw the Cubs score a single run in the top of the 10th, only for Craig Kimbrel to blow a save and give up three in the bottom of the inning. Albert Almora Jr. had a solo home run in the 10th for the Cubs while Anthony Rizzo had a two-run home run early in the game. Rizzo now has 21 home runs and 71 RBI. Jon Lester threw seven scoreless innings on Saturday, allowing just four hits with five strikeouts. He didn’t factor into the decision.

Brewers edge Cubs again

Milwaukee has won eight of its last 11 games after picking up a pair of close wins over the Cubs this weekend. The Brewers are 56-50 on the season, 33-23 at home and 54-48 with the under. Milwaukee has Zach Davies getting the start tonight. He is 8-3 on the season with a 3.17 ERA.

Christian Yelich tied the game in the bottom of the 10th with his 36th home run of the year and then Keston Hirua had a two-run, walk-off home run to win the game for the Brewers on Saturday. Hiura finished with three RBI. Chase Anderson got the start and threw five innings while allowing two runs. Freddy Peralta got the win in relief, allowing the one run to the Cubs in the 10th. He is 5-3 on the year.

MLB Betting Trends

Chicago

The Cubs are 7-20 in their last 27 road games, but 4-0 in Quintana’s last four starts.

Milwaukee

The Brewers have won 19 of their last 26 home games against a left-handed starter and five of their last seven at home.

Prediction:

Davies was pitching very well before getting rocked by Cincinnati earlier in the week. He allowed seven runs in four innings to the Reds after going a stretch of 23.1 innings where he gave up just two earned runs. He has been solid against the Cubs this year, posting a 0.75 ERA against them over two starts. The Cubs have managed to win with Quintana on the mound, but his numbers haven’t been that spectacular. He has given up 11 runs over his last three starts. This year, he has a 10.24 ERA against the Brewers over two starts. Given Chicago’s struggles as of late, I am going to go with the Brewers at home.

MLB Prediction: Milwaukee Brewers -110
