Chicago Cubs Fantasy Spin
Robel Garcia went 1-for-4 with a homer on Monday in a loss to the Giants. Garcia absolutely crushed a Shaun Anderson offering in the second inning to give the Cubs a 1-0 lead with a solo shot. It’s the fourth in just 13 games for the Cubs since his promotion from Iowa, and he’s now slashing .286/.316/.800. That isn’t even kind of sustainable — especially considering he’s struck out 14 times in 35 at-bats — but the talent is pretty evident, and if he can keep the Ks to a low roar, there’s a chance Garcia develops into a regular.
San Francisco Giants Fantasy Spin
Joe Panik went 3-for-4 with a go-ahead RBI double on Monday to give the Giants a 5-4 victory over the Cubs. The Giants trailed 4-2 coming into the eighth inning, but we saw the magic that has seemed to follow San Francisco for the past three weeks and now has the Giants above .500. Panik’s been mostly mediocre — mediocre is putting it nicely — in 2019, and the three-hit day still has the second baseman’s slash at .239/.314/.323 over 91 games with three homers and 27 RBI. He plays the hero on Wednesday, however.
