According to oddsmakers, the Mariners are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -175 to win today. Tigers come up short again
The Tigers had some momentum going for a little while, but have lost three of their last four following a 7-2 loss at Seattle on Saturday night. Detroit is now 20-25 overall and 8-15 on the road. The Tigers are scoring 4.38 runs per game this season while allowing 4.76 per contest.
Francisco Liriano gets the start today for Detroit. He is 3-1 through eight starts with a 4.03 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP. Liriano has pitched 44.2 innings and has 23 walks with 32 strikeouts.
Mariners look for series win
After dropping Thursday’s series opener, the Mariners have won the last two games against Detroit and they seek their first three-game win streak since April 26. Seattle comes into today’s game 26-19 overall and 11-10 at home. The Mariners are putting up 4.62 runs per game this year while allowing 4.49 per contest.
Wade LeBlanc gets the start for the Mariners today. He has appeared in eight games and started three, but has yet to record a decision. LeBlanc has a 2.51 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP. He has pitched 28.2 innings this year and has 22 strikeouts with four walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Detroit
The Tigers have dropped 15 of their last 20 road games and seven of their last nine Sunday games. They are also 16-35 in their last 51 against AL West opponents.
Seattle
The Mariners have won LeBlanc’s last seven home starts and seven of his last eight starts overall. They also have won nine of their last 13 against the AL Central.
Prediction:
Liriano has been a pretty respectable pitcher for the Tigers this season, but his numbers are starting to trend toward the negative. He is going shorter in length and giving up more runs. LeBlanc doesn’t have a lot of starts, but he has been strong on the mound and allowing limited damage. I think he can navigate this average Detroit lineup to lead the Mariners to a win.
The Pick: Seattle Mariners -175
