Dodgers’ Hill pitches six scoreless innings in return to rotation
Rich Hill’s return to Dodgers’ rotation Tuesday proved fruitful, as he tossed six scoreless innings and settled for a no-decision against the Cubs. Hill showed no rust after missing the last month of action with another blister issue. He permitted just three singles and two walks while striking out six Cubs hitters in the excellent effort. Unfortunately for Hill, he missed out on a win when Kyle Schwarber took reliever Erik Goeddel deep to knot things up in the seventh inning. The Cubs eventually won in extras.
Mets place Vargas on DL, have yet to announce starter
Jason Vargas will be placed on the disabled list by the Mets after suffering a strained calf during conditioning drills. Vargas was slated to start Sunday. The Mets are calling up Chris Flexen to replace Vargas on the roster, but they didn’t announce who would start Sunday.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are just 1-5 in Hill’s last six starts but are 7-3 in his last 10 outings when he’s coming off four days of rest.
New York
The Mets have lost 37 of their last 53 games overall and are 9-24 in their last 33 games following a loss.
Prediction:
As of this writing, the Mets have not announced a starter so I’m shooting somewhat in the dark here. That said, the Dodgers should handle anyone New York throws at them and the over is 6-1 in Hill’s last seven starts. Thus, with the total sitting at only 8 for the moment, I’ll take the over.
The Pick: Dodgers/Mets over 8
