Milwaukee Brewers Fantasy Spin
Eric Thames launched a pinch-hit, game-tying three-run homer in the top of the ninth inning, but it wasn’t enough as the Brewers fell to the Dodgers on Sunday. Thames took Dodgers’ closer Kenley Jansen deep in the top of the ninth for his fourth long ball of the season. The 32-year-old veteran slugger has excelled in limited opportunities so far, hitting .270/.300/.595 with four homers and 11 RBI in 40 plate appearances.
St. Louis Cardinals Fantasy Spin
Paul Goldschmidt went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored in Sunday’s win over the Mets. Mets starter Noah Syndergaard got into a tough spot in the second inning, bringing Goldschmidt to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs, and Goldy made him pay with a two-run single back up the middle to give the Cards a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. Goldschmidt quietly has an eight-game hitting streak that’s helped him raise his line to .247/.340/.553 with eight homers and 15 RBI. Despite the good power numbers, he’s still not hitting on all cylinders, a scary proposition for National League Central opponents.
MLB Betting Trends
Milwaukee
The Brewers are 9-2 in their last 11 meetings with the Cardinals.
St. Louis
The Cardinals have dropped four straight games against the Brewers at Busch Stadium.
Prediction:
As you can see from the trends section, the Cardinals have struggled to beat the Brewers the last two years. But Milwaukee is coming off a losing home series versus the Dodgers and are forced to start Adrian Houser tonight at Busch Stadium. With their ace Jack Flaherty on the mound and a hot offense, tonight is a good spot to back the Cards despite their issues with the Brewers.
The Pick: St. Louis Cardinals -156
