Twins aim to slow down red-hot Royals
Kansas City dug itself a huge hole with erratic play throughout June and July. The events of the past week, though, have restored a little of the confidence around Kauffman Stadium.
Riding a seven-game winning streak, the Royals look to complete a sweep of the Twins this afternoon. Online sports book Bovada.lv endorses the defending World Series champs, giving them odds of -167 to take care of business. Conversely, Minnesota represents a +152 underdog. The over/under run total rests at 7.5.
At 63-60, Ned Yost’s club isn’t quite prepared to indulge in possible playoff just yet. Kansas City’s current roll, though, obviously calls to mind many of the components that made 2015 so successful. Incidentally, one of the lineup catalysts from a year ago has spearheaded the charge. Left fielder Alex Gordon smacked a pair of homers last night, giving him five in the past five contests.
In several hours, the former All-Star will attempt to stay hot at the plate in support of Danny Duffy. The lefty hasn’t suffered a loss in 2 ½ months. Since June 1, his 10 victories even rank second in the majors.

Paul Molitor responds with veteran Ervin Santana. Most recently, the Dominican Republic native threw seven scoreless frames at Atlanta. He’s 5-8 with a 4.87 ERA in 18 lifetime appearances vs. the Royals.
The Twins had been rolling on the road prior to their arrival at the K. Yost’s troops are now 13-5 in August, however, and few clubs do a better job of handling matters on the home front. Pick Kansas City to keep the momentum going here.
