The featured game of the day is the AL West battle for first when the Texas Rangers (77-67) host the Houston Astros (77-68) at 8:05PM ET. The Rangers have a ½ game lead over the Astros for first in the division. Houston has Dallas Keuchel (17-7, 2.22 ERA) on the mound to face Martin Perez (2-5, 5.43) of the Rangers. According to oddsmakers at GTBets, the Astros are favored on the road, as they are getting odds of -135 to win, while the Rangers are getting a money line of +125 to prevail. The over/under total for the game has been set at 8.5 runs. The Rangers have won the first two games of the series and their last five against the Astros. Houston is just 14-37 in its last 51 road games.
The other two AL West teams also meet today as the Seattle Mariners (70-76) host the Los Angeles Angels (73-71) at 10:10PM ET. The Angels are 3.5 games out of the Wild Card while the Mariners are 7.5 games back. The Angels have Jered Weaver (7-10, 4.71) on the mound to face Hisashi Iwakuma (7-4, 4.05). Oddsmakers have the Mariners as a -145 favorite to win, while the Angels are getting a money line of +135 to win. The over/under total for the game has been set at 7 runs. The Mariners are 8-3 in Iwakuma’s last 11 starts against the Angels while the Angels are just 3-7 in Weaver’s last 10 starts against the Mariners.
The final game of note has the Tampa Bay Rays (70-74) hosting the New York Yankees (79-65) at 7:10PM ET. The Yankees have a 2.5-game lead in the AL Wild Card race right now while the Rays are 6.5 games behind the Astros for the second spot. New York has Luis Severino (3-3, 3.35) on the mound to face Chris Archer (12-11, 2.95) of the Rays. Oddsmakers have the Rays as a -125 favorite at home today, while the Yankees are getting a money line of +115 to prevail. The over/under total has been set at 7 runs. The Rays are 7-2 in their last nine when Archer starts against the Yankees and these two are 10-4-1 with the under in their last 15 meetings.
