Boston aims to prolong Archer’s agony
Chris Archer’s putting the finishing touches on a miserable season. Of course, the Red Sox aren’t about to give him any sympathy.
John Farrell’s troops will attempt to hand the Tampa Bay righty yet another defeat tonight, with a 7:10 p.m. ET first pitch at Tropicana Field. Online sports book Bovada.lv likes Boston as a 1.5-run favorite, while the Rays represent +107 underdogs. The over/under run figure holds steady at 7.5.
Bet on This Afternoon’s MLB Action
A year removed from an All-Star appearance, Archer (8-18, 4.05 ERA) now leads the American League in losses. He’s been particularly brutal when confronted by Beantown’s finest, too. The North Carolina native owns a 1-10 record with a 5.56 ERA in 15 career assignments against the Red Sox.
For the visitors, Drew Pomeranz (10-12, 3.40) takes the mound. He’s 1-1 with a 2.45 ERA in four lifetime outings vs. Kevin Cash’s crew. Most recently, though, the Yankees tagged the southpaw for four runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings.
