In his Petco Park debut, the team’s top pitching prospect threw 69 of his 94 pitches for strikes, winning his second start in as many outings. He used an effective changeup, fastball and slider in the outing, displaying a solid arsenal. Manager Andy Green was pleased on how Lamet pounded the strike zone, posting a 4-to-1 strike-to-ball ratio.
Ray pitched a complete game shutout in Pittsburgh in his last game out, allowing just four hits in a 3-0 win. He didn’t walk a single batter and struck out 10 batters in a 115-pitch effort. It was his best outing of the season and has now gone at least seven innings in his last three starts.
