Andriese didn’t factor into the decision last Friday versus the Blue Jays, giving up five runs (four earned) on seven hits and one walk over four innings. He struck out four as he worked up to 85 pitches, getting only 54 of them to crack the strike zone. He did get nine swinging strikes, he fell behind against eight of the 21 hitters he faced and allowed a two-run double and a solo home run to Troy Tulowitzki.
Severino tossed five innings while allowing four runs and striking out six in a no-decision against the Orioles on Friday. He was mostly done in by a three-run home run with two outs in the fifth, even though he left the game with the Yankees leading 5-4. The bullpen was unable to hold the lead and now Severino is 0-8 in 13 starts since September of 2015.
Bet Tonight’s Rays vs. Yankees Game
OUR PICK: The Yankees just don’t win with Severino on the hill. They’re 2-11 in his last 13 starts dating back to last season, are 1-5 in his last six home starts, and are 2-6 in his last eight outings against American League East rivals. The Rays, meanwhile, are 4-1 in their last five games coming off a loss and have won seven of their last 10 games after losing the first two games of a series, so they’re a decent bet to avoid being swept.
