MLB Predictions: Can the Indians top the Red Sox in Boston? 7/31/17

Indians vs. Red Sox Pick

Will the Cleveland Indians get back to their winning ways when they hit the road to face the Boston Red Sox tonight at 7PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Cleveland is the favorite today, as the Indians are getting odds of -125 to win. The Red Sox are listed with a money line of +105 to prevail, while the over/under total has been set at 10.5 runs. These two have yet to meet this season.

The pitching matchup today has Mike Clevinger (5-3, 3.20 ERA) on the mound for the Indians to face Doug Fister (0-5, 7.46) of the Red Sox. Clevinger had been rolling, but is coming off a 6-run outing against the Angels that lasted just 4.1 innings. He has 78 strikeouts with 35 walks this season and a 1.21 WHIP. Fister has appeared in seven games this season for the Red Sox, four of which were starts. He has allowed 21 earned runs in 25.1 innings of work. He has 21 strikeouts with 17 walks and a 1.86 WHIP.

Cleveland had a nine-game win streak stopped by the White Sox on Sunday in a 3-1 road loss. The Indians are 57-46 overall and 29-22 on the road. Cleveland is now averaging 4.89 runs per game while allowing 3.91 per contest. The Tribe has been led by Jose Ramirez, who has 32 doubles, 18 home runs and 55 RBI while hitting .320. Francisco Lindor is adding 29 doubles, 16 home runs and 49 RBI.

The Red Sox are coming off a home series loss to the Royals and they are just 2-6 in their last eight games. Boston is now 57-49 overall and 30-20 at home. Boston is putting up just 4.65 runs per game while allowing 4.08. The Sox are being led by Dustin Pedroia, who has a .307 average with 17 doubles and 54 RBI. Mookie Betts has added 31 doubles, 17 home runs and 63 RBI.

Bet on Indians vs. Red Sox

The Indians seemed to have finally found their stride in the last week. This series provides them with a chance to show that they are still one of the best in the AL. Clevinger has been great on the mound for the most part and is facing a struggling Boston lineup. Fister has been a mess and facing a Cleveland lineup that has been hot outside of a 1-run effort on Sunday. I see Cleveland maintaining their stride and grabbing the win.
