PUBLIC BETTING INFORMATION
The public is backing Cleveland today. The Indians are currently getting 58 percent of the wagers for this game as the favorite against Detroit.
KEY INJURIES
Detroit has nobody listed on the injury report for today’s game. Cleveland outfielder Lonnie Chisenhall has been put on the DL due to a calf strain and is expected out until late May.
BETTING STRATEGIES
The Indians have won the first two games in this series, 2-0 and 2-1, and have won nine straight meetings with the Tigers dating back to last season. Tuesday’s 2-1 win saw the Tribe use six pitchers to get the victory. Josh Tomlin pitched five innings and allowed four hits and no runs while the bullpen pitched the final four innings and allowed one run on two hits. Matt Boyd pitched seven innings of 1-run ball in the start for the Tigers.
Jose Ramirez and Roberto Perez each had a solo home run for the Indians in the victory while the Tigers got their lone run on a Jeimer Candelario double that brought in Victor Reyes. Candelario finished with three of the Tigers’ six hits.
Cleveland is heavily favored tonight, but I don’t like the money line given Carrasco hasn’t looked good in his two starts. He has gotten wins, but not because he has been strong. Zimmerman hasn’t looked good, but his hitters have stepped up for him. I think the Tigers will get to Carrasco today and put up some runs. Given the big lines, I am going to take my chances on the heavy underdog today.
