From Rotoworld: Lester surrendered four runs on six hits over five innings in Thursday’s loss to the Rockies. Lester was handed a 1-0 lead courtesy of Kris Bryant’s solo home run in the first inning, but that advantage would not stand for long. The second inning proved to be the veteran southpaw’s undoing, as he surrendered an RBI double to Charlie Blackmon and a three-run home run to DJ LeMahieu in the frame. He did not allow another run in the outing, but the damage had already been done. Lester will bring a 4.13 ERA and 1.35 WHIP into a road start against the Mets next time he toes the rubber.
Wheeler pitched seven innings of one-run ball Wednesday in a no-decision versus the Rangers. Wheeler tied his season high by completing seven innings before exiting a 1-1 game. He remains stuck on three wins, and, oddly, his wins haven’t really come in his best starts. He now has five quality starts under his belt — all coming since May 9 — but just one of those resulted in a victory.
