Blue Jays send Stroman to take down Yanks
Marcus Stroman has experienced a largely frustrating second full season in the majors. Yet the Toronto righty can push all of the noise aside with a strong stretch heading into October.
Still searching for his first victory since Aug. 14, Stroman takes on the Yankees this afternoon with the hope of solidifying the Blue Jays’ playoff prospects. Online sports book Bovada.lv leans toward John Gibbons’ troops, while New York symbolizes a +175 underdog. The over/under run figure rests at nine.
Today’s host squad holds the slightest edge over Detroit for the first wild-card spot. Stroman would certainly help Toronto’s cause, however, with a rebound effort. After going 1-1 with a 3.13 ERA last month, the 25-year-old’s first four outings in September have produced four losses. He’s 5-2 with a 1.03 WHIP in seven career appearances against the Bronx Bombers.
For the visitors, CC Sabathia aspires to improve on a banner track record at Rogers Centre. The lefty holds a 7-3 mark with a 3.19 ERA in 11 lifetime outings there. Most recently, Sabathia allowed four runs in five innings to the Red Sox.

The Blue Jays claimed the series opener in a rout, 9-0, but they’ve still claimed just eight of their past 20 contests. New York’s laboring at the moment, too, coming off a shutout for the 12th time this season. Reduce your expectations for offense accordingly.
