Mets vs. Braves Prediction
Will the Braves spoil Seth Lugo’s 2017 debut when they host the Mets today at 1:35PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Braves are -115 money line favorites versus the Mets, who have odds of +100 to pull off the upset in Atlanta. With Lugo set to face Jaime Garcia in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 9 runs.

Latest on Lugo via Rotoworld: Mets activated Lugo from the 60-day disabled list. Tyler Pill was sent down to Las Vegas in the corresponding move. Lugo got a late start this year after suffering a partially torn UCL during spring training, but he’s finally ready to make his season debut Sunday against Atlanta. Depending on how Sunday’s outing goes, Lugo could bump Robert Gsellman from the Mets’ starting rotation.
Garcia yielded three runs across 7 2/3 innings in Tuesday’s loss to the Phillies. Garcia retired the first 11 batters he faced before Howie Kendrick took him deep with two outs in the fourth inning. He failed to have a clean inning after that but it was still a very nice night from the left-hander as he went a 7 2/3 frames. Garcia boasts a 1.23 ERA over his last four starts, lowering his season mark to 3.21. He’ll try to keep it going Sunday versus the Mets.
Bet Today’s Mets vs. Braves Game
OUR PREDICTION: Garcia has been off-the-radar this season but as Rotoworld points out above, he’s been fantastic over his last four starts. He’s keeping the ball in the yard, which is vital given that New York’s lineup received a boost yesterday with the return of Yoenis Cespedes. Lugo will make his 2017 debut today so he’ll likely be on a pitch count. Atlanta’s lineup has been good against right-handers, even without Freddie Freeman, so I like the Braves in a buy-low situation.
