Davies was brilliant in Sunday’s victory over the Dodgers, scattering just three singles over six shutout innings. Davies walked one and struck out six on the afternoon. While he has been inconsistent this season, he showed again on Sunday the upside that he carries. Now 6-3 on the season, he’ll look to further improve upon his 4.69 ERA and 1.55 WHIP when he does battle against the Diamondbacks in Arizona on Friday.
Delgado limited the Marlins to one run over 5 1/3 innings but took the loss Saturday. It’s hard to win a game in which your own team gets no-hit by the opposing pitcher, in this case the Marlins’ Edinson Volquez. Delgado yielded six hits and a walk while striking out four in the losing cause. The 27-year-old has now held the opposition to one earned run in each of his first three starts for the Diamondbacks, but he has nothing to show for it aside from a 3.24 ERA and 1.13 WHIP accrued over 18 appearances overall. He’ll continue seeking that win — his first as a starter, his second on the year — Friday against the Brewers.
