Latest on Gsellman from Rotoworld: Gsellman allowed seven runs on 11 hits over five innings in a loss to the Nationals on Thursday. Gsellman gave up a pair of homers on the evening, walking two while striking out three. It was out of character for the right-hander, who had actually been pretty good in recent weeks — the seven runs allowed were as many as he’d given up in his previous six appearances combined. His ERA ballooned to 5.50 as a result, and he fell to 5-4 on the year. Another tough matchup is on tap Tuesday against the Dodgers.
McCarthy gave up one run on three hits in 5 1/3 innings against the Indians on Wednesday. It was a smooth outing for McCarthy despite the fact he didn’t strike anyone out in the ballgame. The only run he allowed came home on a Michael Brantley sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. McCarthy did not receive a decision in this game and remains 5-3 with a nice 3.14 ERA in 11 starts. He currently lines up for two starts next week but the Dodgers frequently tinker with the order of their rotation, so keep that in mind when setting fantasy lineups over the weekend.
