OUR PREDICTION
I’m backing the Giants, mainly because it’s their home opener (their fan base is one of the best in baseball) and Blach out-dueled Clayton Kershaw in the club’s season-opener last week. Pretty basic reasoning but with it being so early in the year, it’s hard to make a case off much more than that.
Blach allowed just three hits and registered three walks while striking out three in five innings last week in L.A. With this being Gonzales’ first start of the year, I’ll give the edge to Blach in the pitching matchup. Let’s just hope the Giants’ pitiful offense can score one run for Blach like they did a week ago. Maybe Joe Panik will hit another solo shot and the Gaints can win 1-0 again.
