From Rotoworld: Gsellman allowed two earned runs, seven hits and two walks with six strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings in a win Saturday against the Pirates. Gsellman allowed runs in both the second and third inning but he settled down and didn’t allow another run for the rest of his appearance. He has won back-to-back starts, and he improved to 3-2 with a 4.25 ERA across nine appearances (seven starts) at Citi Field this season. With Steven Matz and Seth Lugo slated to return next week, Gsellman is expected to move to the bullpen.
Braves’ pitching prospect Sean Newcomb will make his MLB debut Saturday against the Mets. He’ll handle the first game of a makeup doubleheader at Atlanta’s SunTrust Park, with Matt Wisler starting the second tilt. Newcomb, acquired from the Angels in the Andrelton Simmons trade, has posted a strong 2.97 ERA with 74 strikeouts in 57 2/3 innings (11 starts) this season at Triple-A Gwinnett.
Bet Today’s Mets vs. Braves Game
OUR PREDICTION: Despite losing last night, the Mets are still 13-5 in their last 18 games in Atlanta and with Newcomb making his major league debut, this is a good spot to jump on New York at a low price. The Mets are 4-1 in Gsellman’s last five starts against divisional opponents and are 6-2 in his last eight outings versus an opponent with a losing record.
