Williams delivered six innings of one-run ball in the Pirates’ victory over the Diamondbacks on Monday. Williams yielded just four hits, didn’t walk a batter, and struck out three. He deserved a win but took a no-decision after Pirates closer Tony Watson let up a game-tying two-run homer in the top of the ninth. Andrew McCutchen answered with a walkoff solo shot in the bottom of the ninth. Williams will carry a 5.20 ERA into his next start on the road versus the Mets. (Rotoworld)
Pill pitched 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball against the Brewers in his first major league start Tuesday. Pill struck out four, which is unusually high for him. He allowed six hits and walked three. A groundball pitcher, he’s going to give up a lot of contact in front of an infield that’s not known for its range.
