Reds vs. Padres Prediction
Will the Padres complete their sweep of the Reds when the two teams meet one last time at 3:40PM ET today?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Padres are -130 money line favorites to beat the Reds, who have odds of +110 to pull off the upset in San Diego. With Amir Garrett set to face Jhoulys Chacin in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 9 runs.

Latest on Garrett from Rotoworld: X-rays came back negative on the left hand of Garrett. Garrett took a comebacker directly off his throwing hand in the second inning of his start Friday night against the Dodgers, but he only suffered a contusion and could take his next turn in five days against the Padres. “It hit him in the palm,” Reds manager Bryan Price said late Friday. “They sting and they leave a lasting residual soreness, or in his case a lack of feeling. But it certainly could have been a lot worse.”
Chacin allowed two runs and three hits over seven innings in a win over the Royals on Friday. Chacin struck out six on the mound and had an RBI double at the plate. His ERA stands at 5.35, but that’s because his poor outings have been awful; 23 of the 42 earned runs he’s allowed have come in three of his 13 starts. He’s allowed three earned runs or fewer in each of the other 10.
Bet Today’s Reds vs. Padres Game
OUR PREDICTION: You bet on the Padres at your own risk but in my eyes, they are the best play on the board here. Cincinnati’s offense has struggled this series while San Diego’s has shown signs of life. The Padres have also been difficult to beat at home recently (just ask the Cubs) and Garrett has been hit hard of late. Jose Pirela, Wil Myers and Hunter Renfroe should do enough damage against Garrett to give the Padres a sweep of the struggling Reds.
