Latest on Hoffman via Rotoworld: Hoffman will be called up to start against the Padres on Sunday. He’ll be filling in for Tyler Anderson, who landed on the 10-day disabled list Saturday with left knee inflammation. Hoffman was terrific in a spot start against the Phillies in late May, allowing just one run on three hits over seven innings while striking out seven batters and issuing zero walks.
Cosart allowed two earned runs over four innings Monday in a no-decision versus the Cubs. Cosart gave up two runs on two walks, a hit-by-pitch, and a single in the top of the first inning, but he posted zeros over his next three frames and the Padres went on to win the game. The right-hander issued five walks in all and he gave up three hits. He’ll carry a 4.50 ERA into his next start at home versus the Rockies.
