From Rotoworld: Pomeranz yielded one run in seven innings and struck out eight as the Red Sox bested the White Sox 4-1 on Wednesday. It’s both the longest outing for Pomeranz this season and the first in which he hasn’t walked at least one batter. He’s 5-3 with a 4.24 ERA and a 64/17 K/BB ratio in 51 innings.
Tanaka was walloped for seven runs in 5 2/3 innings and was charged with a loss to the Orioles on Wednesday. He gave up four runs in the third inning and three more on a home run by Adam Jones in the fourth frame. Once the dust had cleared he had surrendered nine base hits (five went for extra bases) and two walks while fanning four in the beatdown.
This was the fourth time this season that Tanaka has given up six or more runs in a single ballgame. He falls to 5-5 with a dreadful 6.34 ERA in 11 starts. His 56/17 K/BB ratio in 61 innings gives some hope he can turn his season around. Unfortunately he has given up 14 home runs in the same span.
