From Rotoworld: Tillman yielded five runs — three earned — over six innings Sunday in a loss to the Red Sox. Tillman walked four and gave up six hits, including a solo home run to Andrew Benintendi in the top of the third inning. The 29-year-old right-hander is sporting a brutal 5.65 ERA and 1.85 WHIP through six starts this season. Perhaps his shoulder still isn’t quite right.
Severino held the Blue Jays to two runs over seven innings Sunday in a no-decision. Severino was dominant until the bottom of the seventh, when Justin Smoak smashed a game-tying two-run homer. Josh Donaldson then went deep in the bottom of the eighth to give Toronto the lead for good. Severino struck out seven and issued just one walk, scattering six hits over his seven frames. The 23-year-old right-hander holds an excellent 2.90 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and 76/16 K/BB ratio in 68 1/3 innings (11 starts) this season.
Bet Tonight’s Orioles vs. Yankees Game
OUR PREDICTION: The Orioles have won just once in Tillman’s last five starts and are 2-5 in his last seven outings when he’s coming off five days of rest. Conversely, the Yankees are 5-0 in Severino’s last five starts versus a team with a winning record and have won 37 of their last 55 games at home. Given Tillman’s struggles and Severino’s recent success, New York should be a safe play on the runline tonight.
