Oakland A’s vs. Toronto Blue Jays 4/22/16 MLB Predictions

A’s vs. Blue Jays Prediction

Will the red-hot A’s pull off yet another upset when they visit the Blue Jays tonight at 7:07PM ET? We make our prediction below.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Blue Jays are -135 money line favorites versus the A’s, who have odds of +125 to pull off the upset tonight. With Sonny Gray set to take on Aaron Sanchez in the pitching matchup, the over/under sits at 8 runs.

Bet Tonight’s A’s vs. Blue Jays Game

Gray is 2-1 on the year with a 2.33 ERA, a 3.20 FIP and a 3.69 xFIP. He’s pitched well despite allowing 3.72 walks per nine and striking out just 7.91. The key is that he’s allowed just one home run in 19.1 innings and he’s serving up more groundballs than fly balls. That will be key tonight pitching in Toronto where the ball flies.

Sanchez, meanwhile, is 1-0 on the year with a 1.35 ERA through 20 innings of work. He’s reached the seventh inning in two of his first three starts and pitched six innings against the Yankees in the other outing. His strikeout rate (9.00) is great but he’s struggled with walks (3.15 BB/9) and his .170 BABIP suggests he’s due for some batted-ball misfortunate.

OUR PREDICTION: The under is 11-2-1 in the last 14 meetings between these two teams and has cashed in six of the last seven meetings in Toronto. The under is also 6-1 in the A’s last seven road games, 11-2 in their last 13 games versus a right-handed starter, and 11-3 in their last 14 games overall. On the other side, the under is 12-3-1 in the Blue Jays’ last 16 games and is 4-1 in their last five games following a loss. In what should be a well-pitched game, look for tonight to be more low-scoring than most expect.
