Red Sox acquire Sale, WS odds improve
Following the acquisition of Chris Sale from the Chicago White Sox, the Boston Red Sox’ World Series odds have improved greatly.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Red Sox have gone from 12/1 to 6/1 to win the 2017 World Series after trading for Sale on Tuesday. The Chicago Cubs remain the favorites to win next year’s Fall Classic at 7/2 but the Red Sox have the next-best odds, followed by the Indians, Astros, Dodgers and Nationals at 12/1, respectively.

Boston landed Sale from Chicago for the No. 1 prospect in baseball, Yoan Moncada. The White Sox also acquired right-handed pitcher Michael Kpech, outfielder Luis Alexander Basabe and right-hander Victor Diaz. Moncada and Kopech were the two centerpieces in the deal for the White Sox.
Sale joins a rotation that already features David Price, 2016 AL Cy Young winner Rick Porcello, as well as young up-and-comer Eduardo Rodriguez and 2016 deadline trade acqusition Drew Pomeranaz. The Red Sox also acquired reliever Tyler Thornburg in exchange for, among others, third baseman Travis Shaw.

As for the rest of the current World Series odds, the Mets are 15/1, the Giants are 18/1, the Rangers and Blue Jays are 20/1, respectively, while the Orioles, Tigers, Yankees, Mariners and Cardinals are all 25/1. The Royals and Pirates, meanwhile, are 35/1, respectively.
