Padres drop back-to-back games

San Diego had been alternating wins and losses as of late, but the 6-3 loss to the Dodgers on Tuesday was their second consecutive loss. San Diego is now 22-20 on the season, 12-9 on the road and 21-19 with the under. The Padres have Matt Strahm taking the mound today. He is 1-2 on the season with a 3.00 ERA.

The Padres took an early 1-0 lead on Tuesday, but surrendered four runs in the third to open the door for the Dodgers to take over the game. Chris Paddack took his second loss by surrendering all six runs, just three earned, over 4.2 innings. Manny Machado connected on his ninth home run of the season to lead the Padres at the plate. He also doubled and finished with two RBI. Franmil Reyes hit his 12th homer of the season as well.

Dodgers keep winning at home

The Dodgers have won eight of their last 11 following Tuesday night’s victory over the Padres to open the series. The Dodgers are 28-16 on the season, 18-6 at home and 22-20 with the over. Los Angeles has Kenta Maeda taking the mound tonight. He is 4-2 on the season with a 4.03 ERA.

Clayton Kershaw improved to 3-0 on the year in Tuesday’s win. He pitched seven innings and allowed the three runs on five hits with five strikeouts. Kenley Jansen picked up his 13th save of the season with a scoreless ninth. Joc Pederson and Cody Bellinger continued their strong seasons. Bellinger hit his 15th home run and drove in three runs, giving him 41 RBI already. Pederson hit hits 13th home run of 2019 and drove in a pair of runs.

MLB Betting Trends

San Diego

The Padres are just 2-8 in their last 10 division games, but they are 4-1 in Strahm’s last five starts.

Los Angeles

The Dodgers have won five straight Game 2’s of a series and they have won 45 of their last 65 division games.

Prediction:

Maeda has a pretty big ERA, but he has four outings where he has allowed one earned run or less this season. Still, he has flip-flopped good outings with bad and is coming off six scoreless innings against the Nationals. He already gave up four runs to the Padres 10 days ago in San Diego. Strahm has been more consistent, allowing just two runs or less in five straight outings. He doesn’t walk many batters and keeps the bases clear. Though Los Angeles has a lot of power in its lineup, I think the Padres will find a way to win behind Strahm’s pitching and some timely hitting against Maeda.

MLB Prediction: San Diego Padres +140
