San Diego Padres Fantasy Spin
Manuel Margot tattooed a pinch-hit, solo homer in the Padres’ loss to the Dodgers on Saturday. Margot was responsible for the Padres’ lone run of the contest against Walker Buehler, who gave up only five hits and went the distance in this one, with a solo home run — his seventh long ball of the season — in the eighth inning. The 24-year-old outfielder has ceded playing time to Wil Myers, who appears to be rounding back into form at the plate recently, but should still be given plenty of opportunities to showcase his offensive skills over the final two months. He’s worthy of a roster spot in deeper mixed leagues thanks to his blend of power and speed.
Los Angeles Dodgers Fantasy Spin
Justin Turner went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and a pair of RBI in the Dodgers’ 4-1 victory over the Padres on Saturday. Turner lifted a majestic 396-foot solo homer — his 17th round-tripper of the season — to left field off Padres starter Cal Quantrill to break up a scoreless tie in the fourth inning. He also plated an additional run with an opposite-field RBI single in the ensuing frame. The 34-year-old third baseman remains one of the best pure hitters in baseball when fully healthy. He owns a .286/.368/.480 triple-slash line with 64 runs scored, 48 RBI and one stolen base in 421 plate appearances this season
