Giants held to two hits

San Francisco fell by a count of 1-0 Tuesday night at St. Louis to drop to 66-72 overall and 36-34 on the road. Mike Yastrzemski had both hits for the Giants as he ended the night 2-for-4. Stephen Vogt finished 0-for-2 with a walk. Dereck Rodriguez was the tough-luck losing pitcher as he allowed one earned run on seven hits with seven strikeouts and one walk over seven innings. Madison Bumgarner will start tonight for San Francisco as he enters with a 9-8 record, 3.62 ERA and 1.09 WHIP plus 177 strikeouts across 176 2/3 innings pitched.

Flaherty spins gem

St. Louis recorded a 1-0 home win Tuesday night over San Francisco to improve to 78-60 overall and 45-25 at home. Marcell Ozuna provided the offense for the Cardinals as he finished 2-for-3 with a solo home run. Paul DeJong and Yadier Molina each finished 1-for-3. Jack Flaherty recorded the win as he allowed one hit with eight strikeouts and one walk over eight shutout frames. Carlos Martinez notched his 18th save as he allowed one hit with one strikeout over one scoreless inning. Michael Wacha will start tonight for St. Louis as he comes in with a 6-6 record, 5.06 ERA and 1.55 WHIP plus 95 strikeouts over 110 innings pitched.

MLB Betting Trends

San Francisco

The Giants are 2-6 in their last eight road games. San Francisco is 8-1 in the last nine Bumgarner starts.

St. Louis

The Cardinals are 1-4 in the last five Cabrera starts on Wednesdays. St. Louis is 37-18 in its last 55 games overall.

Prediction:

The Giants’ weak offense has been a no-show so far this series, but today might provide an opportunity for a much better showing. Wacha has struggled most of the season and continues to give up hard contact, although he was much better his last start. With the ace in Bumgarner on the mound, I’m going to take a shot on the Giants getting their first win in this series.
