Indians vs. Tigers Pick
It’s a great pitching matchup when the Detroit Tigers host the Cleveland Indians tonight at 7:10PM ET. Which team will come away with a win?
According to oddsmakers at Bodava.lv, the Indians are favored on the road, as they are getting odds of -130 to win. The Tigers are listed with a money line of +110 to win. The over/under total for the game is set at 7.5 runs.

The Tigers have Justin Verlander (1-2, 4.60 ERA) on the mound to face Corey Kluber (3-1, 4.19) of the Indians. Verlander is coming off one of his better outings this season, pitching seven innings without allowing an earned run. He had eight strikeouts with just two walks to drop his WHIP to 1.40 for the season. Kluber also went seven innings in his last start, allowing just three runs while picking up 10 strikeouts. He now has a 1.25 WHIP for the season with 37 strikeouts in 34.1 innings of work.
The Tigers took the opening game of this series on Monday night with a 7-1 win at home. The Tigers have now won three of four meetings with the Indians this season. Detroit is now 13-12 overall and 8-6 at home while the Indians come into today’s game 14-11 overall and 8-5 on the road.
Detroit jumped out quickly on the Indians on Monday, scoring five runs in the first two innings. Tyler Collins had a three-run home run in the second to really blow the game open. Victor Martinez had a promising day, going 3-for-5 at the plate with a RBI. The Detroit bullpen actually looked solid in the win as well, going three scoreless innings with two hits allowed and four strikeouts. Trevor Bauer lasted just four innings for Cleveland, giving up all seven Detroit runs.
The Tigers are expecting Miguel Cabrera to return from the DL today, but the trends aren’t in their favor tonight. The Tigers are 1-8 in Verlander’s last nine starts against Cleveland while the Indians are 22-5 in Kluber’s last 27 starts overall. Verlander has been inconsistent with his strikeouts numbers and his inability to get the third strike has led to high pitch counts. Kluber has shown improved numbers in his last two starts and I think that continues today against the Detroit lineup.
