Will Nationals’ ace Max Scherzer dominate Padres? MLB Predictions 5/26/17

Padres vs. Nationals Prediction

Will ace Max Scherzer dominate the Padres tonight when the Nationals host San Diego at 7:05PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Nationals are -250 money line favorites versus the Padres, who have odds of +200 to pull off the major upset in Washington. With Scherzer set to face Luis Perdomo in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 7.5 runs.

From Rotoworld: Perdomo was crushed for eight earned runs, 11 hits and a walk over three innings in a loss against the Diamondbacks on Saturday. The Dominican right-hander entered with four consecutive quality starts, so chalk up Saturday’s outing as an anomaly. His ERA rose from 4.19 to 5.79 as a result of the poor outing. He’ll look to get untracked tonight.

Scherzer gave up three runs and lasted just five innings in a loss to the Braves on Saturday. He struggled with his pitch efficiency, throwing 106 pitches in the brief outing. He gave up just four hits but two of them left the yard and accounted for all three runs he allowed. Rio Ruiz hit a two-run shot in the second inning and Matt Kemp smacked a solo blast in the fourth. He struck out six and walked three on the evening. It wasn’t one of his better outings but Scherzer remains one of the best pitchers in the league. He falls to 4-3 as his ERA rises to 3.02 through nine starts. He is tied for second in the major leagues with 76 strikeouts.

Bet Tonight’s Padres vs. Nationals Game

OUR PREDICTION: The Padres are just 2-5 in Perdomo’s last seven road starts, are 1-5 in his last six outings, and are 6-15 in their last 21 games overall. The Nationals, meanwhile, are 7-2 in their last nine home games, are 18-7 in Scherzer’s last 25 starts, and are 13-3 in their last 16 outings versus a team with a losing record. Lay the -1.5 on the runline.
