Will the Indians beat the Yankees again at home? MLB Predictions 8/5/17

Yankees vs. Indians Pick

Will the Cleveland Indians make it a third straight win over the New York Yankees when these two meet again tonight at 7:10PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Indians are favored in tonight’s game, as they are getting odds of -140 to win, while the Yankees are getting a money line of +125 to prevail. The over/under total for the contest has been listed at 8.5 runs.

Today’s pitching battle has Jordan Montgomery (7-6, 4.15 ERA) on the mound for New York to face Danny Salazar (4-5, 4.63) of the Indians. Montgomery has been a little inconsistent. He has allowed at least three runs in five of his last 10 starts and struggled to get deep into games lately. He has 104 strikeouts on the year with 35 walks and a 1.27 WHIP. Salazar has been dialed in lately, allowing just three earned runs over his last 15.2 innings of work. Salazar has 93 strikeouts with 30 walks on the year and a 1.37 WHIP.

Cleveland has picked up the first two games in this series, winning 5-1 on Thursday night and 7-2 on Friday night. Cleveland is now 59-48 overall and 30-24 at home. New York has fallen to 57-51 overall and 25-31 on the road.

The Yankees stranded nine runners on Friday, as they actually had an 11-8 hit advantage on Cleveland. Trevor Bauer avoided the big inning, pitching seven strong with one run and seven strikeouts to get his 10th win. Jaime Garcia took the loss for New York after allowing six runs in 4.2 innings. Edwin Encarnacion drove in a pair of runs to lead the Indians while Michael Brantley added two hits and scored twice. New York was led by Todd Frazier, who had his 18th home run of the season.

Bet on Yankees vs. Indians

Cleveland has been able to pick up some key wins in this series to make some distance in the AL race with New York. I expect more of the same today. Montgomery hasn’t been at his best lately while Salazar seems to be dialed in. Salazar’s last two starts have seen him strikeout 16 while walking just two and allowing only four hits. Those limited baserunners will make it tough for the Yankees to keep pace with Cleveland.
