Tigers vs. Royals Pick
Can the Kansas City Royals silence the bats of the Detroit Tigers once again tonight when the two meet up at 8:15PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Kansas City is favored at home, as the Royals are getting odds of -120 to win. Detroit is listed with a money line of +110 to prevail, while the over/under total for the game is set at 9 runs.

Today’s pitching matchup has Matthew Boyd (2-5, 5.40 ERA) on the mound for the Tigers to face Ian Kennedy (0-4, 4.43) of the Royals. Kennedy has had some shaky outings this year, allowing at least 4 runs in three straight starts. He has given up 21 earned runs with 20 walks and 36 strikeouts in 42.2 innings of work. His WHIP is 1.15. Boyd has given up at least three runs in his last six starts. Detroit has also lost his last six starts. He has given up 31 earned runs with 23 walks and 36 strikeouts in 51.2 innings pitched. His WHIP is 1.74.
The Tigers took the first game in the series on Monday night, 10-7. The Royals followed that up with a 1-0 win on Tuesday night. Kansas City is 22-29 overall and 13-12 at home while Detroit is 24-28 overall and 12-18 on the road.
Tuesday’s game featured a great pitching duel as rookie Eric Skoglund pitched 6.1 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits with five strikeouts. Justin Verlander last 7 innings for Detroit, giving up just six hits with five strikeouts, but he allowed the lone run of the game. That run came on an Eric Hosmer single that scored Alcides Escobar.
Neither pitcher has had much to offer this season, but Kennedy is putting on one less baserunner per two innings and that will be important tonight. Boyd is putting too many runners on, which leads to big two-out hits. The Tigers haven’t won in his last six starts and I don’t see them winning today. Their bats let them down last night against a rookie. They could do the same tonight.
