Will the Royals stay hot vs. the Angels? MLB Predictions 6/17/17

Royals vs. Angels Pick

Will the Los Angeles Angels avoid another loss to the Kansas City Royals when the two continue their weekend series tonight at 8:15PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Angels are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -130 to win. The Royals are listed with a money line of +120 to prevail, while the over/under total for the game has been set at 9 runs.

Tonight’s pitching matchup has Jake Junis (2-0 4.67 ERA) on the mound for Kansas City to face Alex Meyer (2-3, 4.05) of the Angels. Junis is making his fourth start and coming off his best effort yet, going 7 innings while allowing three runs. He has 13 strikeouts and 11 walks over 17.1 innings this season. His WHIP is 1.79. Meyer hasn’t been getting deep into games this year. He has pitched 40 innings over eight starts, allowing 29 walks with 46 strikeouts. His WHIP this season is 1.55.

The Royals have gotten off to a great start to this series, picking up a 7-2 win on Thursday and a 3-1 win on Friday. The Royals have won all five games with the Angels this season. Kansas City is now 32-34 overall and 15-18 on the road. Los Angeles is 35-36 overall and 15-21 on the road.

Kansas City’s pitching was locked in on Friday. Ian Kennedy pitched six innings and allowed just one run on two hits to get his first win of 2017. The KC bullpen then pitched three innings and allowed just one hit to lock up the win. Jesse Chavez lasted seven innings for Los Angeles, but gave up nine hits and two runs to take his seventh loss. Lorenzo Cain had the hot bat, picking up three hits with a pair of home runs and three RBI. Cain now has 10 home runs in 2017.

Bet on Royals vs. Angels

Sometimes a team just has your number. The Angels haven’t figured out how to beat this Kansas City team in five tries and I am going to roll the dice and say it won’t happen again tonight. Both pitchers are struggling and allowing a number of base runners, but Junis is actually showing improvement in his starts. I think he can continue that trend tonight and hold down this lackluster L.A. lineup in check. Look for Kansas City to manufacture some runs on Meyer, who has a high WHIP.
