Twins vs. White Sox Pick
Can the Chicago White Sox and Minnesota Twins manage to hit another under when the two meet tonight at 8:10PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the White Sox are the slight favorite at home, as they are getting odds of-125 to win, while the Twins are listed with a money line of +115 to prevail. The over/under total for the game is listed at 8.5 runs.

The pitching matchup for today’s game has Phil Hughes (4-1, 4.32 ERA) on the mound to face Derek Holland (3-2, 2.02) of the White Sox. Holland has yet to allow more than two earned runs in any outing this season. He has 30 strikeouts with just 12 walks in 35.2 innings of work this year. Holland’s WHIP is 1.04. Hughes has been okay, but not overly great. He has allowed just 16 earned runs in 33.1 innings. He only has six walks with 21 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.38.
The Twins took the series opener on Tuesday, 7-2, in Chicago. The Twins have now won four of seven meetings with the Sox this season. The two have pushed or hit the over in all seven meetings. Chicago is 15-16 overall, 6-6 at home and 17-12 with the under. Minnesota is 16-14 overall, 8-4 on the road and 13-13 with the over/under total.
The two pushed the total of 9 runs on Tuesday with the 7-2 score. The Twins racked up 12 hits as Mike Pelfrey had another poor outing and the Chicago bullpen didn’t far’ much better. Minnesota got 6.2 innings out of Hector Santiago, and the bullpen went 2.1 scoreless innings. Byron Buxton led the Twins at the plate with three hits and one RBI.
It’s a little more than a trend right now between the Twins and White Sox and them hitting the under. They have yet to hit an over in seven meetings this season. The Sox have hit the under in 5 of their last 6 against a right-handed starter and in 10 of their last 14 games after a loss. Minnesota is also 3-0-1 with the under in Phil Hughes’ last four starts against the White Sox. Eventually these two will hit an over, but I don’t think it happens today. Holland should go deep and allow limited base runners.
