In the first game on Saturday, Michael Fulmer pitched a complete game for the Tigers, but gave up three runs. Chicago had five pitchers combine for the shutout. In the second game, the Tigers held a 4-0 lead in the ninth and barely held on as Justin Wilson surrendered three runs in the bottom of the inning. Buck Farmer pitched 6.1 scoreless innings in a surprising start for Detroit.
Detroit has been struggling to hit in this road trip they have been on, it really hasn’t mattered who was pitching. Gonzalez doesn’t have good numbers, but he should be able to be competitive with the struggling Tigers’ lineup. Zimmerman has been a mess, especially with allowing home runs. That won’t go well against this Chicago team that has plenty of power bats.
