According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Elliott now has 14/1 odds to win this race following his pole victory. Dale Earnhardt Jr. remains the favorite with 5/1 odds while Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick each have 8/1 odds. The Daytona 500 takes place on Sunday at 1:30PM ET from Daytona International Speedway.

Earnhardt Jr. was third-fastest in qualifying, but he will have to earn his starting spot during the Can-Am Duels on Thursday. Dale Jr. is a two-time winner of the Daytona 500 and he has placed in the top 3 the last four years.

Johnson is a two-time Daytona 500 winner as well and he has finished in the top 5 the last three years. Johnson was sixth in qualifying on Sunday.

Harvick didn’t complete qualifying so he will start in the back for the Duel races. Harvick won the Daytona 500 in 2007 and finished second two other times, including last year.

Elliott is competing in his first Daytona 500. He will drive the No. 24 that belonged to Jeff Gordon prior to his retirement. Elliott has one top-5 finish at Daytona in four Xfinity Series races. This will be his first Sprint Cup race.
