The NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series has reached the playoffs and 16 drivers are set to compete for the title. Here’s a look at the odds to win this year’s Cup Series title.
The 16-driver field will go through four stages. After three races, the field goes down to 12. After six races, the field is down to eight and then four will remain after nine races. The final race has the four remaining competing in a winner-take-all effort for the title at Homestead. According to the latest oddsmakers, Kevin Harvick is favored to win the Cup, as he has +225 odds. Other short odds to win are Kyle Busch (+300), Martin Truex Jr. (+325) and Kyle Larson (+700).
The remaining drivers are Brad Keselowski (+1000), Clint Bowyer (+2000), Kurt Busch (+2000), Chase Elliott (+2200), Denny Hamlin (+2200), Joey Logano (+2200), Erik Jones (+2500), Ryan Blaney (+2500), Jimmie Johnson (+4000), Aric Almirola (+7500) and Alex Bowman (+10000).
Harvick won the 2014 Cup Series playoffs to claim his only season championship of his career. He starts the playoffs tied with Busch for the points lead and he has seven victories this year. Harvick has reached the Final 4 of the playoffs four of the last five years.
Busch won the 2015 NASCAR title and has finished in the top 4 the last two years afterwards. Busch is tied with Harvick in the points lead to start the playoffs. He has six wins in 2018.
Truex Jr. is the defending series champion. He has four wins this year and currently sits third in the point standings, 15 points behind Harvick and Busch. Truex has reached the final 4 just twice in his career.
Larson is looking to win his first NASCAR title. He has never cracked the Final 4 race, but reached the third stage of the playoffs last year. Larson is winless on the year and starts the playoffs 12th in the standings, 45 points out of first.
