2017 NBA Finals Odds 7/12/16 – Spurs’ Tim Duncan retires from the NBA

Tim Duncan retires

The San Antonio Spurs lost their franchise player on Monday, as Tim Duncan elected to retire after an amazing 19-year career.

Duncan had a Hall-of-Fame career for sure. He won a total of 5 NBA Championships with 3 NBA Finals MVP awards and 2 NBA MVP awards. He was also a 15-time All-Star and a 10-time All-NBA First Team selection. He played his entire 19-year career with the Spurs after being drafted No. 1 overall in 1997.

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Spurs are now listed with +1200 odds to win the NBA Finals next season. The Golden State Warriors are the favorites with -150 odds to win the title, while the Cleveland Cavaliers have +350 odds to prevail.

Bet on NBA Futures Odds

While Duncan averaged 19 points and 10.8 rebounds per game for his career, his numbers were dwindling over the last few seasons as he approached 40. This past season, Duncan average just 8.6 points, a career low by nearly five points per game. Despite that, Duncan was the face of the franchise and provided a lot of leadership for the team. It’s hard to say how that will be felt with his retirement.
