Hornets vs. Suns Pick
Can the Charlotte Hornets handle being a road favorite today when they take on the Phoenix Suns at 3PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at YouWager, the Hornets are favored on the road today, as they are getting odds of -6 points against the Suns. The over/under total for the game is listed at 219.5 points. The home team has won four straight meetings in this series, covering the spread in the process. This is the first meeting this season between these two. Today’s game takes place from Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona.
Charlotte has won its last two games, beating the Hawks and Pacers coming into today. The Hornets are 22-29 overall, 7-15 on the road and 22-25-4 against the spread. Charlotte is putting up 106.3 points per game on offense while allowing 106 on defense. Kemba Walker has been leading the team with 22.8 points and 5.9 assists per game to lead the Hornets while Dwight Howard is adding 15.9 points and 12.7 rebounds per game.
Phoenix is coming off a 129-97 loss at home to the Jazz for its sixth loss in seven games. The Suns are now 18-35 overall, 9-18 at home and 25-26-2 against the spread. Phoenix is averaging 104.8 points per game on offense this season while allowing 112.1 per game on defense. Devin Booker is leading the Suns this season with 24.3 points and 4.8 assists per game. TJ Warren is adding 19.5 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.
Neither team is terribly trustworthy in this situation. The Hornets are 8-10-4 ATS on the road and Phoenix is 10-16-1 ATS at home. The issue in this game is ultimately the Phoenix defense. The Suns can’t seem to stop anyone and the Hornets actually have a respectable offense. Walker has really stepped up his game in recent years and should be able to have a big day. I don’t see Phoenix being able to match the scoring output of Charlotte. The public betting is nearly split here, but I think the Hornets will get the job done and cover on the road.
