Curry’s ankle won’t quiet Warriors in H-Town
With Stephen Curry’s status once again in question, there’s no better time for the Rockets to climb back into their opening-round matchup vs. the Warriors.
Houston will attempt to do precisely that beginning at 9:30 p.m. ET tonight. Oddsmakers at online sports book BetDSI, though, still aren’t giving J.B. Bickerstaff’s crew much love at home. The Rockets remain 5-point underdogs to narrow the series deficit to 2-1. Meanwhile, this evening’s over/under figure comes in at 214.5 points.

The reigning league MVP, who missed Monday’s 115-106 triumph at Oracle Arena, continues to wrestle with a right ankle injury. Shaun Livingston performed admirably in Curry’s stead in Game 2, registering 16 points and six assists. When Golden State had to turn it up a notch, however, coach Steve Kerr leaned on the usual suspects. Klay Thompson made a whopping 15 free throws, and Draymond Green fell two dimes shy of a triple-double.
Unless the Rockets figure out how to defend with considerably more ferocity, those individuals should wreak similar havoc several hours from now. Houston has allowed opponents to surpass the century mark in 10 of the last 12 contests. Center Dwight Howard keeps removing himself from the proceedings at the worst stages, too, amassing 11 personal fouls in 65 minutes of action out West.

The bottom line: The Warriors don’t necessarily need Curry to get past H-Town. Maybe if James Harden were shooting at better than a .368 clip, we’d have a different story. That clearly isn’t the case.
