Heat heating up
Miami has won back-to-back games and three of its last four after picking up a 122-108 win at Indiana on Wednesday. The Heat are 27-10 on the season, 10-9 on the road, 22-13-2 against the spread and 22-14-1 with the over.
The Heat are middle of the road on both offense and defense this year. They are giving up 107.3 points per game while opponents shoot 44.2 percent against them. Offensively, Miami is putting up 111.4 points per game while shooting 46.9 percent from the field. Jimmy Butler is leading Miami this season with 20.2 points, 6.9 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game. Bam Adebayo is adding 15.7 points and 10.6 rebounds per contest.
Nets fall again
Brooklyn is coming off a 111-103 OT loss at home to Oklahoma City on Tuesday. The Nets have lost seven straight and have failed to cover in any of them. Brooklyn is 16-20 on the season, 9-8 at home, 16-20 against the spread and 19-16-1 with the under.
The Nets are giving up 111.7 points per game this season while opponents shoot only 43.3 percent against them. Offensively, Brooklyn is putting up 109.6 points per game while shooting 43.7 percent from the floor. The Nets have both Garrett Temple and Wilson Chandler listed as questionable to play tonight due to injury. Spencer Dinwiddie is leading the team with 22.4 points and 6.2 assists per game. Caris LeVert is adding 16.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.
NBA Betting Trends
Miami
The Heat are just 5-12 against the spread in their last 17 Friday games, but 15-7-1 ATS in their last 23 games as a favorite.
Brooklyn
The Nets are 1-6 against the spread in their last seven games playing on 2 days of rest, but have covered the spread in five straight as a home underdog.
Prediction:
The Heat won the first meeting in Brooklyn this year, 109-106, back on Dec. 1. The Heat are playing pretty well this week and found their offense again after struggling with a pair of good defensive teams. Brooklyn isn’t a defense Miami should have to worry about tonight. The Nets are struggling on both sides of the ball right now and just can’t seem to find the winning recipe. Brooklyn seems close to mailing it in for the season as Kyrie Irving is questioning whether he will return this season and Kevin Durant is already out until next winter. I think Miami is able to work its way to a road cover tonight behind its superior offense.
NBA Prediction: Miami Heat -3
