Washington took Game 1 of the series, 114-107, back on Sunday. The Wizards have now won four straight meetings with the Hawks, covering the spread in three of those four victories. The Wizards come into tonight’s game 50-33 overall, 31-11 at home and 43-39-1 against the spread. Atlanta is 43-40 overall, 20-22 on the road and 39-44 against the spread.
The Wizards held off the Hawks in Game 1 thanks to 19 turnovers from Atlanta. On the flip side, Washington had 28 assists on their 45 field goals and had only 12 turnovers. Washington was also great at the line, going 16-of-17 as a team. All five Washington starters scored in double figures with John Wall leading the way with 32 points and 14 assists. Bradley Beal added 22 points for the Wizards. The Hawks were led by Dennis Schroder, who had 25 points with nine assists.
Atlanta can’t turn the ball over as much as it did in Game 1 and expect to steal a game on the road. The Hawks have the talent, but Washington stepped up the defensive effort to force the turnovers. John Wall really took over the game and when he’s playing at this level, there aren’t many better. Wall should be able to stay strong at home tonight and lead the Wizards to another comfortable win in Game 2.
