Nets vs. Hornets Prediction

Are the Hornets laying too many points to the Nets tonight with the two teams set to clash at 7:00PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Hornets are 10.5-point home favorites versus the Nets while the over/under is currently sitting at 217. The point spread hasn’t moved off that 10.5-point figure, but the total hit the board at 218 before dropping to 217.

Brooklyn is now 1-9 over its last 10 games and is just 3-6-1 against the spread over that same span. The Nets have dropped nine straight games, with their latest loss coming against the Raptors at home, 103-95. Brook Lopez scored 20 points on 6-of-17 shooting in the loss to Toronto on Sunday, adding seven boards, three assists, one steal, two blocks and four turnovers in 30 minutes of play.

Charlotte has dropped seven of 10 overall and is just 3-6-1 at the betting window in those 10 contests. The Hornets have lost seven straight, with their latest loss coming at Utah, 105-98. Kemba Walker scored 16 points in the loss, while Frank Kaminsky scored 15 points on 6-of-15 shooting and Marvin Williams added 16 points and 14 rebounds.

OUR PREDICTION: The Nets are 5-0 against the spread in their last five games against the Hornets and are a perfect 5-0 against the number in their last five games in Charlotte. The road team is also 7-3 against the spread in the last 10 games between these two teams, while the underdog has cashed in five straight games between these teams. This is too many points to lay on a struggling Hornets team.
