Pacers vs. Pistons Pick
Will the Indiana Pacers manage to extend their winning streak tonight when they go on the road to face the Detroit Pistons tonight at 7:30PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Pistons are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -4.5 points against the Pacers. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 204.5 points. Indiana has won and covered the spread in three straight against the Pistons, including a Dec. 17 meeting in Detroit, where the Pistons were also a 4.5-point favorite.

The Pacers have won their last two games to get to 17-18 on the season. They also have covered the spread in both wins to move to 14-21 against the spread. Indiana is putting up 104.5 points per game on offense while allowing 105.8 points per contest. Paul George is leading the way for the Pacers with 22.1 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Indiana could be without one of its key contributors tonight, as Jeff Teague is questionable with an ankle injury. Teague is averaging 15.3 points and 7.7 assists per game for the Pacers.
The Pistons are coming off a 107-98 win at Miami against a depleted Heat team on New Year’s Day. Detroit has struggled though, losing seven of their last nine to fall to 16-20 on the season. The Pistons are 17-19 against the spread this season, going 3-6 ATS in their last nine games. Detroit has a good defense that is holding opponents to 98.7 points per game, but the offense is only producing 98.8 points per contest. Tobias Harris is the leading scorer for Detroit with 16.2 points per game while Andre Drummond averages 14.3 points and 13.5 rebounds per game. Drummond’s backup, Aron Baynes is doubtful to play due to an ankle injury.

Neither team is really having the season they expected, but Detroit is really in a funk right now. Their last two wins have come against teams that have been resting starters. I don’t trust the Pistons as a favorite right now, as their defense has been letting them down over the last month and they don’t have the offensive firepower to contend with most teams.
