Nets vs. Magic Pick
Are the Brooklyn Nets and host Orlando Magic going to put up a boatload of points Tuesday night at 7PM EST?
Oddsmakers at sports book Bovada.lv have made the Magic a 5-point favorite on the spread line. The over-under sits at 230.
The Nets enter action with a 2-1 record following a 116-104 home win Sunday afternoon over the Hawks. The Magic are also 2-1 after they upset the Cavaliers on the road by a score of 114-93. The last four meetings have been split 2-2, while Brooklyn is 2-1-1 ATS. Three games went over the total and the other contest pushed.
On Sunday, the Nets received a 20-point performance from Allen Crabbe off the bench. They connected on 41-of-87 shots including 11-of-28 from 3-point range. Demarre Carroll scored 17 points, while D’Angelo Russell contributed 16 points and 10 assists. Caris LeVert had 16 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals. The Nets outscored the Hawks 72-52 in the second and third quarters combined to take control.
Nikola Vucevic paced Orlando against Cleveland with 23 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots. Jonathan Simmons had 19 points and four boards in 20 minutes off the bench. D.J. Augustin had 12 points and 10 assists. Evan Fournier added 13 points and four assists. The Magic outscored the Cavs 36-18 in the first quarter and never relented.
The total is 4-0-1 in the last five meetings. Brooklyn is 1-5-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Orlando.
The Nets run, run, run and don’t have the personnel aside from Carroll to play strong defense. Even Carroll’s defense has been on a decline the last couple years. And the Magic showed at Cleveland they can put up points in bunches. This total is sky-high, but when these two teams met in Brooklyn on Oct. 20 the score was 126-121 in favor of the Nets. There is plenty of reason to believe the total is sailed by again.
